Friday morning, February 18, we headed out to visit mom's work, The Bible Society, where she works with a group to translate the Bible into second-hand Hausa. Mom went to work right away after breakfast and the rest of us followed a couple hours later. On the way there we were pulled over by a bunch of boys/men who were looking for a specific type of paper that every vehicle was supposed to be carrying. Aaron and Cal (who were driving the two buses) both pulled out the stack and showed it to the boys. However, we were missing one sticker! Since our policy has always been not to bribe and these boys were clearly looking for a bribe, we sat for a while. Finally, Ibrahim (my brother Bryan) got out of the van and started walking down the street to mom's office to call my dad to come negotiate for us. As he walks away he yells back, "Why are you wasting our time like dis? I'm going to go call Oga. He be vex with you, Oh!" The "supervisor" walks up and asks why the boys are wasting our time like this and lets us go. (This is a watered-down version of the 10-15 minutes we sat there, but it gives you the idea. :)) As badly as I wanted to take pictures here it was wiser and far less hassle in the long run to let that opportunity go.
When we arrived at the Bible Society I ran upstairs to take some pictures while they were still working and before our group disturbed them, and then we sat and visited for awhile. Dad joined us for a couple minutes as well.

I asked if there was a large sign for the Bible Society that I could take a picture of for various reasons. The translators told me that they had just the day before had to turn the sign around for safety's sake. The area where the office is can be one of the hot-spots in town. |

Earlier in the week one of the converts Dad and Mom have been working with called and said their goat had just had babies. So after Mom got home from the office later that afternoon, we all headed out to his house to see the baby goats. The three-day-old goats were absolutely adorable and our kids enjoyed the kids very much!

Other happenings that day worth mentioning:
Brandon went outside several mornings to help Grandma put acha on the rocks for the birds to enjoy.
Kinsley managed to not only tip the rocker over, but then proceeded to climb up it as well. It took him a while to realize that maybe that wasn't such a good idea, especially when he couldn't figure out how to get back down. It was rather amusing to watch.
Hope you're having a fabulous Saturday.
