Sailing

One of the memories that I was reminded of this trip was boat races.  I remember being quite young and watching the boats fly around the bouys as they raced on the lake.  Rayfield used to be a mine and filled in to become a lake.  Anyway, the races I remember were from an English group of people who brought their sailboats out to Nigeria.  When all those people left, they left their sailboats behind so Dad and Mom bought three of them for $300 and we (and our countless friends) enjoyed them all growing up.  We would work Saturday mornings and get our chores done so we could spend Saturday afternoons out at Rayfield sailing, swimming and playing in the mud.  A trip back wouldn't be the same without an afternoon at Rayfield.

Monday was the perfect day to spend an afternoon relaxing at the lake after a busy weekend.  We spent the morning working on projects and having coffee time, then a group headed out to Rayfield to set up the boats and the rest of us followed later after nap time.

Coffee Time!

It was fun to take Brandon sailing--never thought I'd take my son sailing.

The mighty Ibrahim--couldn't resist!

Brandon went sailing as often as he possibly could.  He absolutely loved it and
still talks about it a month later.

LOVE this picture of Stacey!

Al jumping the cliff.

Aaron jumping the cliff and making his wife row him back to shore so he could be lazy.

Cal jumping the cliff

The kids at play and rest.

When Brandon wasn't on the boat he was playing in the mud.  His swimming suit
still smells like Rayfield mud.  I take it out and smell it whenever I need to remember
what warm smells like.

A group left early to go play tennis but there wasn't enough room for all of us who left later so Brandon
and I rode in the very back all the way home.  It was an interesting ride over all the bumps!

There's nothing better after a day of play to have someone invite you over for supper so you don't have to make it!
We had a great visit with Persenaires.
Hope your Friday is going well.  We're back in the rain so this was a good post for me to do today.
