Sunday--Sally's Birthday

Sunday was Sally's birthday.  Usually we head out to the river to watch the canoes in the Ski to Sea race, but the forecast was for rain on Sunday the majority of the week so we decided on indoor party would be preferable this year.  It turned out to be a beautiful day and we had all kinds of fun!

Here's a few of the pictures to give you an idea.

Eating outside in the beautiful sunshine and the cake I made for Sally.

The expression progression was fun when Sally opened the Kindle we all got her.

The beautiful stepping stone Uncle Keith and Aunt Pam gave her.

The correlation between Brandon pushing the peddle tractor and the boys trying to push start the four-wheelers was too funny to watch!

Jump starting

Sally, Aunt Pam, Mom, Dad, Brandon, Micah and I all walked out to the river.
I love the contrast the "short" people give to the tall tress.

Brandon's foot sure got a good work out on all the sand and stones.

Brandon getting a ride with the big boys.

All tuckered out.

Since there was no mud to be found to go mudding, jumping was the name of the game.

These didn't come out as clearly as I was hoping, but they still are pretty cool, I think.

Back at the house for a game of "Power Grid"

Brandon and Dad had a fun time playing this game together.

He tried so hard to throw far enough.

It was a great day of food, fellowship and fun!

Visitors Part 2

The fun continued with Dad and Mom here, and ended up being extended.  Mom had a sinus infection/cold and she (as well as the rest of us) were not comfortable with her flying in that condition, so they extended their stay a couple more days for healing.  We had no trouble filling the days!

Mom read Brandon a letter from his friend in the country Dad and Mom work in.

Monday was sunny so we spent most of the day outside.  Micah started throwing the ball back to Mom.

Dad and Mom helped me plant all the flowers I had bought before they got here and never got planted.

Brandon was THRILLED when Grandpa played trains with him.

Mom and I gave haircuts to everyone, including each other.

Wednesday we went shopping...nuf said.

Brandon's cast  and shoe fell apart, but Grandpa works wonders with duck tape.

Friday we went down to Bellvue to get Brandon's second cast off.  He's still trying to get used to using his leg again.

Lots of laughing and giggling...

Saturday was project day.  Brandon is helping Grandpa try to figure out why the drawers
wouldn't close properly.

At snack time I gave Micah this cup but he couldn't quite hold it up properly, so he layed his head down to drink instead...adaptable??

Mom and I made birthday banners for the three grandkids.
Sunday was Sally's birthday and we spent the day over there having fun, but there are too many pictures so that will be a separate post.

Dad and Mom left on the shuttle this morning and managed to get a flight out this afternoon.  They are enroute back to work and the strange part is we probably won't see them for a year this time--four times in the past 10 months was a pretty phenominal record.  I could get used to that...

But for now, I hope your Memorial Day is memorable.  We had a delightful day doing absolutely nothing!

Visitors from the Far Country

Dad and Mom are here, thus the silence on the blog for a while now.  Today, however, they headed up to Canada to visit Dad's sisters.  The boys and I were going to go with them, but Micah developed a cold so in the interest of trying to get him healthy I decided to keep the boys home this afternoon.  So, that also means I have a little time to post some pictures from the last couple days.

One of Brandon's favorite activities is emptying Grandpa's pockets of all his pennies and putting them in his "horse".  This year he had to share with Micah's bank, but he didn't seem to mind too much.

Thursday we had quite a bit of shopping to do since I hadn't been grocery shopping for several weeks, and in the interest of avoiding the "Canadian Invasion" at Costco in Bellingham, we headed down to Mt. Vernon for the day.  It was beautifully sunny so we packed a lunch and went to the park as well for a while.

Shhhhh...Nobody tell the doctor Brandon was climbing playground equipment with a cast on....

Another favorite of Brandon's is having Grandma tell him the "Candle Story".  He never tires of it.  I love his expression and how into the story he gets.

Aunt Gert and Aunt Margaret came for tea time one day.

They have spent some time catching up on some work and communication.

Micah continues to stuff his face, come up with classic facial expressions, and is starting to move/scoot faster.

Saturday Mom and I went to a couple garage sales and I found a nice big bag of duplo/lego for $2.  I was pretty excited and Brandon (and everyone else) has played with it lots already.

Brandon has been talking for months about playing games with Grandpa and Grandma when they visit.

Sunday we took a walk to go see the ducks.

Daddy got stuck going in circles and Brandon had to help correct him and get him out of the gazebo.  Micah thought it was pretty funny to be going round and round in circles.

We bumped in to some friends who shared their bread to feed the ducks.

For some reason Brandon decided we needed to run on the way home but he would then flop down in the grass.

He also found the perfect stick to be a fishing pole.

We have spent several hours out in the yard, weeding, planting and playing.  More pictures at a later date.

Have a fabulous afternoon.

I'm linking up with Sweet Shot Tuesday today.
