Dad and Mom's House

Many people have asked what kind of house Dad and Mom live in--hut, mud, western, etc.?  So here is a tour of their compound.  I purposely kept out pictures of the inside of the house because you'll see it in future posts so I didn't want to be redundant.

Long driveway leading up to the gate to their compound.  Taken from the main road.

Gate leading in to the compound.

On the far left is another long driveway to the back of the compound.  The building on the left is the house.  The containers on the right are the shop, car ports, and storage and generator sheds.  The building that looks like it's behind the containers (top right) is dad's office building.  Mom is talking to the guard who is standing in front of the guard's shed directly to the right of the gate.

Water during the dry season (right now) can be very scarse so Dad had a well dug (directly to the left of the gate) and many come to get fresh water when there is a shortage.

The containers are behind and to the right of this picture.  The building is Dad's Back to God Hour and Mission Partners offices.

Standing on the opposite end of where the last picture was taken.  The first door is Dad's office, the second is the Back to God Hour office, and the third door at the end is the laundry room.

Looking directly at the house from the driveway/parking area.

Standing about where the previous picture was taken, only looking the opposite direction.

Standing in front of the gate looking down the long driveway to the back of the compound.

The back side (arguably the front) of the house.  In the veranda area: the door on the far left goes to the living room and on the far right of the veranda are two more guest rooms.  The window on the far right was to our room.

Standing in the same place as the previous picture, only the opposite direction.  To the left is the garden.
Dad and Mom have dreamed of having a pond and rock garden for years.  They have worked very hard on it and it is beautiful.  Brandon had fun feeding the foot-long fish in the pond every night (with an adult).
Hope that gives you a better idea of what their house looks like.  Really, it looks and feels like an oasis in the middle of a very different city.
