Saturday, July 2nd

Saturday we went to the coast.  It started out being very cloudy, but by the afternoon the skies were brilliant blue and the sun was shining.  I think we all got a little sun burnt.  Unfortunately Andrew had to work so he wasn't able to join us.

Our challenge for the day (little did we know) was to climb the giant sand doon.  From the parking lot it didn't look so bad and we agreed to try it.  As we got closer, however, we started questioning our sanity.  Cheryl, who had climbed it before, didn't sugar coat it:  "It's a lot of work, but worth the view at the top."  So we left Grandma (who couldn't climb because of her foot) with Micah happily playing in the sand at the bottom and we started the trek up.

The beginning

Auntie Cheryl wanted a little bit more of a work out so she periodically carried
Brandon on her back.

Only half way up?!?!

Mostly Brandon crawled up on his hands and knees.

Whew!  The top.

The promised blog proof.  Grandpa made it to the top!  ;)
While at the top we watched two whales (hump back?) swimming and eating.  I didn't have the zoom capability to get good pictures of them, unfortunately.  It was fun to watch, though.

Going down was much more enjoyable.

Scooting all the way down.

Happy sand discoveries.  Micah enjoyed the time with Grandma thoroughly!

There it is!

We had a tailgate picnic lunch.  It was delicious after our feat of the morning.

Grandma in one of her favorite places in the whole wide world--the beach.

The afternoon we spent in the pool again.  I didn't take any pictures, just enjoyed the water and sunshine.  In the evening we celebrated Andrew's birthday (earlier in the week).

See the Micah stair protection?  It worked pretty well.

Micah's been getting up on his arms and legs more and more often, but he finally
started taking a few "steps" instead of scooting.

Chillin' with Grandma.

Chocolate motorcycle = Andrew heaven.  There wasn't much left by the end of the evening.

"Uncle Andwew makes good pancakes!"

Another fun day in the sunshine with family.  It was good for the soul!
Blessings

My photoshop elements is giving some headache so I'm not sure when I'll be able to get the rest of the pictures edited/processed.
