Micah's 3 Birthday

Micah turned 3 on July 27th, but unfortunately it wasn't a real fun day for him.  In fact, it was a pretty catastrophic day!  We had a wedding to go to in the afternoon so the morning was spent trying to get as much "Saturday" work done as possible.  Then the wedding...and oh the reception...all I can say now is, "poor kid".  (I wasn't saying it on that day, though.)

To begin, he fell asleep during the wedding, which should have been a huge flag to us that he was tired and heading into his "tired" behaviors, mainly not listening.  We got to the reception and the first thing he does is try reach for the nuts on the table, almost pulling the entire table cloth off the table along with all the glass dishes.  He spilled his water trying to drink from glasses far too large for him, went outside and tried to climb over the railing (the other side of which was the marina), and tried climbing the standing table by hanging on it.  I took him to the bathroom along with Lisa and as I was changing Lisa's diaper I said, "don't play with the toilet" (as he was in the habit of doing).  Did he listen? Nope.  He lifts the back lid off with his one hand, but discovers it's too heavy and ends up dropping it into the tank, which in turn smashes a whole in the tank and we very quickly have two inches of water on the bathroom floor.  Meanwhile, the bride is also in the bathroom getting her bustle pinned up and she says very matter of factly, "Oh my, there's water on the floor."  Thankfully she was around the corner and didn't get her dress wet.  I brought him back out to the reception, handed him to Bryan and said, "he's yours before I do something drastic".  Finally the reception gets under way and we get to eat!  That goes okay, but during the prayer for the food, he was playing with Bryan's phone and somehow managed to turn on Pandora in the silence.  We left pretty quickly after eating.  It was just time to be done.

The next day we had his birthday party at our house and that was a much more pleasant day for him and us!

We let him open his books on his birthday right before the wedding so he would have something new to look at and have something special on his birthday.  They worked for a couple minutes.

Sunday afternoon:

I gave myself a break from fancy cakes this year and kept things simple.

James and his girlfriend Vanessa were able to come and celebrate with us.

The Beaver was the highlight of the day.  Here the boys set up an "airport".  (Read: A great excuse to play with water.:))

Bumpa showed them YouTube videos so they would know how to make the proper Beaver engine sound.

And that was Micah's epic 3rd birthday!  ;)

Blessings
