Thinking through the week when Al and Rachel really had no idea what their plans entailed, was a bit of a challenge. I knew a couple things, though. 1. We would more than likely be going up to Canada and have a busy day Monday. 2. By Wednesday they would be down for sure and we would be going cruising. So in theory, I thought to put a slower day on Tuesday to give the boys a bit of a break between two big days. Not so sure it was slower, but it was fun!
Uncle Ralph brought Al and Rachel across the border Tuesday morning, just in time to have coffee with Aunt Gert and Aunt Margaret. It was a delightful visit with them, as usual, with lots of laughter, friendly banter, and a little bit of serious mixed in.
Lunch and mandatory nap time for the boys was packing time for me. We were planning to go out to Birch Bay for a hot dog roast with Don and Sally, but we had to make a pit stop "on the way out".

Duh...the Raspberry fields. |
The tractor was having a hard time moving across the grass so Brandon had to stop and "fix" it. |
NOPE...we didn't forget the blueberry bushes either. |
Then it was time for a "fwee-or wheewer" ride out to the river. |
Uncle Al always takes it to a new level. |
He's trying...I'm sure he'll master it one of these days. |
What can I say.... |
After picking up wood and making our way through the various fruit bushes, we made it out to Birch Bay in a nice amount of time to have a good fire going before everyone else showed up.

Micah showing Auntie Rachel where she should cut the wood. |
It was great fun watching Auntie Rachel learn how to chop wood. Don't think she ever really did much of the chopping, just "loosened it up" for Uncle Al to finish off. |

...and Brandon's version. |
Ooops, just about lost the hat. |
Auntie Rachel trying to teach Brandon how to skip rocks. Do you see it? |
I must say, hot dogs are absolutely delicious when roasted outside by a body of water. |
Half folded folding chair works perfectly for keeping curious fingers away from the fire and concentrated on eating. |
My boys...I do love them so... |
Grandma's always ready with a fun imaginatory game for Brandon to play. Here he became a chef and created such delicacies as Filet Minon, Chocolate Cheesecake, Salmon and other high falutin' dishes he couldn't pronounce. His phrase became, "Here's your food. Eat it." |
Just love the composition and lighting of this shot. |
The scenery was spectacular. |

And for those interested in a "closer" look at the boat of debate. Sorry, everything gets blurrier from here so I can't blow it up for you much more. |
We headed home before it got dark so the kids could get to bed not so crazy late. Brandon drove back in Grandpa and Grandma's car and had all kinds of new bits of information to share with them. He is a sponge right now, and one that then gets flung around and ideas generalized in all sorts of different directions. "Do you wear just underwear to bed?" ;)
Wednesday was another big day and one I personally had been looking forward to for a good while.
